Skip to main content Bona Floor Products. In Stock. The first mop I ordered broke immediately; the mop head snapped off and couldn't be fixed. I contacted amazon and they shipped a replacement that arrived two days later. They sent a shipping label for return, but once the mop is put together, it can't be disassembled; it wouldn't fit in the box and it was 4 feet tall. When I told amazon this they cancelled the return and I didn't have to send it back.

How To Clean, Gloss Up, And Seal Dull Old Hardwood Floors

The mop is far superior to the previous model. It is more solidly constructed and the spray bottle works really well, doesn't collapse. A nice product and great customer service from amazon.

Add to cart. I just started renting a house built in the s with slate floors in the living room, tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms and hardwood in the bedroom and hallways. The Swiffer mop required 4 AA batteries, and the disposable cleaning pads even generic versions and single-use cleaning cartridges ran up a bill over time.

No batteries with Bona--the mechanical sprayer distributes the solution from a refillable cartridge, and its microfiber pad is machine washable. Swiffer has perfumed scents in their solution; I like the Bona solutions better for their excellent cleaning power without a residual scent. Glad that Bona was recommended to me by the new landlord, because I didn't know See All Buying Options.

Usually ships within 8 days. Recommended by an installer after seeing some "puffy" seams in my laminate flooring. Had been using a homemade cleaner which included water. I was advised that is a mistake even with alcohol as a drying agent.

I'm just now ordering a refill and per Amazon the last time I ordered this was the beginning of August last year. So it's just a few days shy of a year. We used this at our previous house with hardwoods approx years with no problems and we're just over 3 years in this house now. I noticed a poster complaining of build up. For us this has been the best cleaner that does not leave a build up that you can feel on your feet we're a barefoot house to keep the muck down.

I've tried a variety of organic floor cleansers and other eco-friendly cleansers and all leave a funky feeling coating on the floors. With this there isn't anything, the Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner Refill, oz. I was hesitant about purchasing any floor cleaners because I grew up on the old school vinegar and water method, but after a bunch of research I decided to go with Bona.

I bought the professional series because I was swayed by the reviews. Originally I purchased a bottle of the regular Bona from Home Depot and was very happy with the results.

I can't say I see a noticeable difference between the two, but it the professional does seem to get more dirt off the floor. I like that I can mix this at my own pace, it isn't harmful to the dogs if they walk on it although the dogs might be harmful to the floorand you don't need all the extra gadgets to use it. I use an O-Cedar dust mop and microfiber towels to clean my floors. The smell isn't horrible,I just moved into a house with unsealed hardwood floors and I was wondering what is the best way to go about cleaning them.

I've heard not to use water because it will make the wood pucker. I have heard not to use Murphys Oil since they are not sealed. I've heard water and vinegar works well, as well as odorless mineral spirits? Thank you for your question and for joining our community. My name is Tom, known here as HD, and I have had quite a bit of woodworking experience in my lifetime.

Any product that contains water should be avoided if the floors are really not sealed. The easiest way to do this is to place a drop of water in an inconspicuous place and see if it is absorbed readily. It works well, but does make you hungry for pickles shortly after cleaning. If the floors really are not sealed, I highly suggest sealing them as soon as feasible.

I have gotten a lot of feedback from customers in my home store on a product called Rejuvenate. Customers with rental homes, foreclosures, as well as those with worn floors have been very pleased with the products and the results. It will fill in scratches and seals and gives the floor a new look.

It is available in Satin and High Gloss Finishes. So I figured out that my floors are sealed. And I looked at the Bona products in stores and it says to only use with polyurethane flooring.

Which mine are not. Any other suggestions??? What that means is that they are meant to be used over wax finished floors. The flooring that we still in-store now are all urethane finished. Years ago floors were refinished using a wax coating as opposed to the urethane, so the cleaners you'll see now are reflective of this change. If your floors are not treated with urethane, then they were likely sealed with shellac and then a wax top coating to help re-seal them over time, or just the wax itself.

The best way to tell if you have a wax finished floor, is to check the floor itself. Typically it has a dulled finish to it and dirt sticks to it like a magnet. Run over to a corner in the room and see if you have any dirt deposits that seem almost "stuck" in the floor. Also, scratch the floor a bit with your fingernail and see if anything comes up under your nail.

If you find either of these, then you likely have wax. Removing old wax and bringing it to a state where you can put urethane over it can be a lengthy and tricky process, and perhaps not one that you want to get into. I personally, along with Pat, don't like to recommend using strippers as a first suggestion, since there are so many ways in which they can go wrong for the floor.

If the wax has served your floor well so far; it may be best to just stay with it and re-treat it. If you do indeed have a wax floor, I would recommend against using the Bona, Bruce or similar hardwood cleaners since most are made for no-wax floors. I would stick the the tried and true warm water and vinegar method.

Tom mentioned using it above, and I completely agree. This should be your best method for cleaning the floors and can also save you money on costly cleaning products to boot!

Like 0 Comment 3 Stay updated Report.NordicSeal is a newly released water-based sealer from Bona. You can use it to achieve the whitewashed look, which is popular right now. This two-toned look is great for kitchens, beach houses, and anywhere else you would like to achieve a light, airy feel.

NordicSeal helps to reduce any reactions with tannins. It also helps with side bonding, has good penetration, and allows you to build your top coats with integrity. It seals the wood while pigmenting it, and allows the top coats to sit nicely on top. It only takes about two to three hours to dry. For the second coat, follow the same process as the first.

Click here to buy Bona NordicSeal. Then, quickly buff down the coats to remove any grain raise——make sure not to remove too much of the pigmentation from the sealer. You just want to get it smooth and ready for a top coat and then apply your water-based finish as normal.

Can I get an approx. Hi I have applied two coats on my red oak floors of the Nordic Seal. I would still like to see it a little more white. Is it ok to apply a third coat?

Or should I buff and then apply the seal again for the third time before applying Bona traffic Naturale. I start tomorow thanks.

I would stick with the two coats to avoid any issues with laps or streaking. Would like to know how the Nordic Seal works on Pine. Am installing some interior barn doors and would like that type of finish. Thanks for your question! Bona Nordic will work just fine on Pine. This is a floor finish so would be best to apply with the door flat as opposed to hung vertical when coating. I have noticed from pictures that Bona Natural Seal seems to impart a slight yellowing still. I believe Nordic tone is a product available in Europe.

I would not have an answer currently. Best to call Bona Kemi for that advice. I have Brazilian cherry solid wood floors. I would like to get a white washed look. I was thinking 2 coats or 3? To be honest I do not know of a product that could hide the red that naturally occurs in Bz.Best known for its waterborne line of products, these finishes are marketed to the flooring trades, which is why they are only available in gallons. We can ship these products anywhere in the US - just call and talk to us over the phone and we can help you make a selection.

And yes, we will be slightly more expensive than Amazon, but keep in mind that Amazon hasn't been using these finishes for more than 20 years, and won't be able to answer all your questions.

Keep in mind that waterbone finishes are NOT freeze-thaw stable, so if you're looking for us to ship to you, we may have to delay your shipment based on temperatures here in Minnesota! We can't say this enough: always use the sealer specified by the brand of polyurethane you are using. Full strength flooring polyurethane is so full of solids that it struggles to sink deeply into the wood grain.

This compromises the bond of the finish to the wood. Sealers soak in and stick to wood better than poly. The later poly coats will bond better to sealer than they will to the wood, and they will level and flow more reliably.

Bona has a magnificent range of sealers, each with a slightly different look. We don't carry all of them, just our favorites:. This stuff is new, but amazing! Its magic is to make wood look like it wasn't coated at all.

Being able to protect wood, without being able to see that layer of protective coating - that is an amazing chemical achievement. Bona does this by suspending the tiniest amount of white pigment in the finish mixture.

This white pigment offsets the "wet" look you automatically get from all film finishes. If you want the natural look of a European penetrating oil finish, but with more abrasion resistance, NaturalSeal delivers.

NaturalSeal can be used a single layer under two coats of Bona Mega or Bona Traffic, or you can double-coat the NaturalSeal and get close to the appearance of a light white stain. But be careful: any time there is a pigment in a coat, you increase the possibility of lapping the edges. This product is more difficult to apply than ClassicSeal. Published coverage rate is sqft per gallon but we consistently get sqft at best, so calculate accordingly.

Solvent base: water VOC level: g per liter 2. Classic Seal is the new name for Bonaseal, which was the original waterborne base coat designed to work under all Bona's top coats. We always thought it was crystal clear, until we saw it next to the new NordicSeal, and now we know that there is a slight amber tint to it. However, it has nothing like the amount of amber in an oil-based coat.

It is the goldilocks of all the Bona sealers - neither too white nor too brown. And we've used it and loved it for years. A single layer of ClassicSeal is recommended under two coats of either Mega or Traffic polyurethane. Our only quibble with ClassicSeal is that it is extraordinarily difficult to sand.Whoops, I almost forgot to tell you about how I scrubbed and re-sealed the existing hardwoods right before we moved in literally, like 26 hours before we moved in.

So I gave them some love. Wax on, wax off, baby. First I swept up the random dust and old faux Christmas tree leaves and all the other stuff that was left behind. After sweeping, the next step was to use their floor cleaning spray, by just working my way around the room spraying it on the floor and following that with the mop with the cleaning pad on it. This made me mad sweaty, yo. So I give it a 7 on the exertion scale. This was a lot less rigorous so you ARE doing the swiffer motion here.

Note: see the green painters tape on my mop? That thing came out of the box all wonky and broken, so I had to MacGuyver it together. In this picture you can see how the floor that I had done was all moisturized and shiny top left of the pic below while the floor behind the polish pad is kind of dull and dry.

Sadly, by the time I worked my way out of the room I was only mildly impressed. Parts of it had dried and looked just like they did before dull, grayed, slightly scratched, etc while other areas that were still wet looked awesome. But once they dried… they were all chalky and dry again. So it was back to Home Depot, where I bought another brand called Rejuvenate.

It came in satin and high gloss but I chose high gloss since the floors upstairs are nice and shiny, which we like. It was just the Bona sealer that had left me high and dry ok, just dry. The room looked like this before:. Granted it still had to dry a bit in that shot above, but the comparison between the Bona stuff and the Rejuvenate stuff definitely left us liking Rejuvenate a lot better.

It went on more evenly and left everything rich and sealed looking — even well after it dried. Nothing looked chalky a few hours later, and I was able to apply two coats in each room you could apply them a few hours apart instead of waiting 24 hours like the Bona stuff required which was awesome. I even went back and did the office again with the Rejuvenate stuff instead of doing a second coat of Bona in there.

And I was so much happier with it. Flossy and glossy, eh? This is how the living room dried as well, and the office looks the same now that we went over it.

Have you used a floor cleaning and resealing system to bring life back to dull, mildly scratched, or chalky floors?

Did you try Bona, Rejuvenate, or something else?
